About Mike Whitney
Mike Whitney is one of the few people who have made a seamless transition from representative sport to television.
Fast bowler Mike Whitney was a favourite among Australian and NSW cricket fans for both his sense of humour and whole-hearted approach to the game.
Since retiring from Test Cricket in 1994 due to a knee injury he has become one of the most visible faces on television. As well as being one of the most visible personalities on television, Mike is also one of the busiest.
Between his television commitments, he is also the author of two books Quick Whit and Whiticisms: Confessions of a Left Arm Quick, a highly sought-after speaker, consultant to a promotional company and director of a computer graphics company.
Mike was the referee for the show Gladiators and the host of Who Dares Wins. He is host of Sydney Weekender Channel Seven’s lifestyle and leisure show on Channel Seven.
Over the years, Mike has hosted Sydney Weekender from all over New South Wales; from Eden in the south, to Tibooburra in the far north-west of the state. He is currently in his 12th year as the show’s host.
